The Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association is launching a fresh campaign next week in which telegrams will be sent to President Mahinda Rajapaksa, urging him to end repression of the media.

The SLWJA said it expects all political parties, trade unions, civil society organizations and individuals that value democracy, to join this effort.

They will ask the president to mediate in ending the harassments, threats, attacks, abductions and murders of journalists.

The campaign will begin on July 07th from the Central Mail Exchange at D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha in Colombo 10 at 10.30 am.
