The chief editor and four other editorial members of new Sinhala weekly ‘Siyatha’ have resigned in protest.
They have tendered their resignations to chairman Roshantha Kariyapperuma and consultant Priyantha Kariyapperuma of Voice of Asia (Pvt.) Ltd., which publishes the newspaper.
The resigned journalists cited a continuing breach of ethics and agreements, denial of editorial independence and the absence of a cohesive advertisement policy for their decision.
They are chief editor Manjula Wediwardena, deputy editor Athula Vithanage, features editor Jayasiri Jayasekara, chief sub editor Sisira C. Vithanage and editorial coordinator Chanaka Krishantha.
